Checking for Course Prerequisites and Corequisites

Before registering, students should review to check if courses have any required course prerequisites or corequisites. Information can be found under course descriptions in the UNT Catalog or directly in the Schedule of Classes under “Course information.”  

A prerequisite is required academic preparation a student needs to be successful in a course. This can be previously earned test or course credit and can require a minimum grade in a prior course.

A corequisite is when two courses are required to be taken at the same time. 

Courses that list recommended preparation are not required and are not subject to the drop process.

Students who fail to meet required course prerequisites or corequisite requirements will be automatically dropped from these courses following grading for the term preceding the registered course. Dates for prerequisite/corequisite drop are listed on the academic calendar for each term.
